Prominent Chess Coach To Host Three Free Online Summer Chess Camps
Chris Torres, known in the chess world for his blog, Daily Chess Musings, and his chess coaching skills, is offering three free online chess camps during summer 2021. This is the second summer that he is doing so, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more people are seeking out online enrichment for themselves and their children. Because of that, a number of professionals have decided to take their summer camps, classes, and other enrichment activities to the internet.

One such professional is Chris Torres, a prominent California chess coach and the founder of the chess website Daily Chess Musings. Torres is known for his unique approach to teaching chess, and has been offering a variety of chess playing and learning opportunities via the Daily Chess Musings website for a number of years now.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Torres decided to expand how he connected with his audience. He had been teaching after school programs for over twenty years but decided to further his reach for low-income households that were looking for some sort of enrichment for their kids during the summer months.

The Daily Chess Musings Chess Camps have been one of Torres’ favorite things to teach, and he enjoys connecting with kids from around the world through them. And this year, like last, he has opened up 3 of the weeks for free for attendees. This is a $250 value for each week, and he allows any family who applies to join him for these fun and educational, camps.

According to Torres, “The past couple of years have been very stressful time for many young people and, perhaps more than ever, children are in need of positive activities that give them a recess from real life stress while enhancing their abilities to handle difficulties.”

Last year, Torres ended up with over 1000 children at his one-week summer camp. This year, Torres hopes to expand his reach and connect with even more children, hence why he made the decision to go ahead and have 3 different weeks available. The camps will be held during the weeks of June 14-18, July 12-16 and August 9-13, from 12:30 pm to 3 pm, Pacific Daylight Time (PDT).

The camps are for all ages, and every child that participates gets a certificate, and special prizes will be given away to children who are the top performers in different categories. Families just have to fill out a form on the Daily Chess Musings website, and children are welcome to apply for 1, 2, or all 3 camps.

Chris Torres is the founder of Daily Chess Musings, a blog and website focused on providing information and tips for those interested in playing chess. The blog is designed to help people of every skill level and age. Torres also offers private lessons, camps, tournaments, and rated United States Chess Federation events via the Daily Chess website.
